This is a panel of local authors who are current or former police officers or detectives.  Meet Michael Black, Dave Case, Doug Cummings, James Jack, Thomas Keevers and David J. Walker. Also meet our moderators, mystery authors Libby Fischer Hellmann and Mary Welk.  Ms. Hellman edited and Ms. Welk contributed to a new anthology, Chicago Blues, published in October, 2007.

Here’s your chance to learn more about autism,  a condition discussed in our One Book, One District book, Death of a Thousand Cuts, by Barbara D’Amato.   Ms. Linda Hoeck,  the Autism Coordinator of the Northwest Suburban Special Education Association, will illuminate various aspects of this disorder and address audience questions.

You’ve read the books and seen the shows – but how do professionals handle a “real world” homicide investigation?  This panel compares real life processes to those portrayed in the media. The panel consists of moderator and author, Linda Mickey, Media Specialist, Doug Cummings, and guests from other agencies that collect or evaluate evidence.
