2010 Summer Reading: Scare Up a Good Book!Tuesday, June 1 - Saturday, July 31

All district cardholders, ages 2 through adult are invited to join the Summer Reading Program Scare Up a Good Book at the Palatine Public Library District. Take part in this summer’s monster-ous mashup of reading, fun and prizes. Bring your Palatine Public Library District card and sign up at the Main Library, Freeman Road Branch or Rand Road Branch beginning Tuesday, June 1. Bookmobile sign up will begin Friday, June 11. Everyone who completes the program will receive a grand prize T-shirt, generously provided by the Friends of the Palatine Library. The program ends on Saturday, July 31 at the respective closing time of each location. As always, participants will have an opportunity to "Read On" for a chance to win prizes in August.

Lectura de Verano 2010: Busca un buen libro

Niños de 2 años en adelante hasta adultos están invitados a ser parte del Programa de Lectura de Verano de nuestra sucursal de Rand Road. La inscripción comienza el 1 de junio. Los participantes que completen todos los requisitos de lectura ganarán el premio mayor de una camisa playera.

Weird Werewolves

Saturday, July 31, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Are werewolves real or imagined? Set aside your disbelief and enjoy a riveting and spine-tingling presentation by journalist and published author Linda Godfrey. Hear stories about her experience as an investigative journalist of the paranormal! Her interviews with people who have encountered werewolves in Wisconsin and Michigan are well-documented and fascinating. Godfrey has appeared on many national television and radio programs to speak about her work. She is the author of The Beast of Bray Road  and Hunting the American Werewolf. For Teens and Adults. End-of-Summer Bash

Saturday, August 7, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Let summer go out in style with The Sidekicks, a local high school Ska band, and celebrate the end of the summer reading program with your friends. The concert will be outside in our parking lot, weather permitting. Refreshments provided.
