MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES OF THE PALATINE PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, HELD AT THE PALATINE PUBLIC LIBRARY. 700 N. NORTH COURT, PALATINE, IN SAID DISTRICT AT 6:00 P.M. ON MARCH 22, 2007 

 

 

CALL TO ORDER

 

President Salter called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Secretary Schersten was present.                                                                                                       

 

 

ROLL CALL

 

Upon roll call, Trustees Beals, Heggem, Illian, Salter, Schersten, and Zuckert were physically present. Vice-President Barnes arrived at 6:25 p.m. Interim Director Cheryl Isom and Trustee candidate Jill Jensen were also present. Dan Bradbury of Gossage Sager Associates arrived at 6:45 p.m.

 

 

PRESIDENT’S REPORT

 

            CORRESPONDENCE

 

President Salter read a letter from a patron complaining about insufficient time allowed for rental of extra-long DVDs. Interim Director Isom will respond to the patron.

 

            SEARCH COMMITTEE FOR NEW DIRECTOR

 

President Salter appointed Vice-President Barnes as chairman, Trustees Beals and Schersten as members of the Search Committee for the new Director.

 

 

DIRECTOR’S REPORT

 

Interim Director Isom gave an update on the Freeman Road Branch refurbishment project. She complimented Freeman Road Branch Manager Gayla Swansen on her organization of the project.

 

On the subject of insurance, the Library is covered by present insurance as long as the pod remains on the site. Interim

 

Director Isom left the meeting at 6:55 p.m.

 

 

DIRECTOR’S SEARCH

 

Discussion centered on difficulties with correlating the proposed schedule from Gossage Sager Associates with the realities of who would be available in June to act on behalf of the search firm. Dan Bradbury explained which members of the firm would be available during his absence in June. The Board requested meeting as soon as possible with the Gossage Sager representative who would handle the bulk of the work.

 

Dan Bradbury continued explaining to the Board the advertising schedule he planned for the immediate future, and the nationwide extent of the search for the new Director.
